10.4 DMX Cabling
The DMX cable should meet EIA485 requirements. The characteristics
for this cable include low capacitance, twisted pair, shielded, and de-
signed for high speed data.
Twisted pair Ethernet cabling referred to as Category 5 cable may be
a cabling option upon successful evaluation in the end use application.
In the end use application, proper separation between control wiring
from the DMX interface and AC mains must be observed in accor-
dance with the applicable safety standards and/or NEC/CEC require-
ments.
The maximum permissible cable length between DMX Controller
(transmitter) and last TRINITY PC is 1000 feet (300 meters). A DMX
splitter (preferably isolated) may be required to extend the cable
length.
